LM401 introduced ............... (July 22nd 2008)
We've introduced the LM401 in to our catalogue of high quality products.
Using identical components to the MRL401 the LM version is a dedicated low-profile wedge monitor with a twist as the LM401 is equipped with flying track and a 35mm stand mount.
As you'd expect, it's a great sounding box with the versatility and long working life you'd expect from any Shermann system.
Demo sets are with clients right now - call us for your audition.
See the LM401 feature page here.
RS5 / R118B rental system ............... (July 13th 2008)
The Shermann RS5 rental system was out in Essex last weekend at a large youth festival.
Customer was Concert Services Ltd, a Rayleigh based Shermann user
whilst the festival called SOLID was organised by the Viz-A-Viz organisation.
Initially installed in a marquee the system was taken outside for events on Saturday then returned indoors for the final Sunday morning session.
Driven by FFA amplification and an Ashly 3:24CL crossover the system performed faultlessly and also covered a very large area outside the
marquee during Saturday's sessions.
RS5 yoke bracket in use ............... (July 5th 2008)
The new Shermann RS5 is now successfully in use and with the option of utilising the new yoke style stand/flying bracket.
Click on the current (PDF) newsletter to see a rather dark picture of the new bracket which may be fitted to our rental system RS5 boxes.
We'll update the RS5 feature page on the Shermann-Audio website with more elaborate details as soon as possible.
See the current newsletter here.
RS2 introduced ............... (June 21st 2008)
The RS2 has been introduced to the R Series.
This lightweight 3 way cabinet is a powerful yet ultra-compact model designed to be used in pairs for very high quality speech dutiues.
Add a pair of Shermann GL3B models and you have a small band system capable of covering moderately sized audiences with ease.
The RS2 is a stunning performer and at present is possibly the only 3 way 10" box on the market.
It's equipped as standard with two point flying track and a 35mm stand mount.
See the RS2 feature page here.
RS5 yoke bracket is here ............... (June 19th 2008)
The RS5 yoke bracket has arrived at Shermann's HQ and we'll have pictures on the RS5 feature page very soon.
Attached to the cabinet by easily removed M12 handles the bracket serves stand mount and flying functions with just the quick
change of the stand mount fitting to the supplied half-coupler.
Check the RS5 feature page later this month for more information.
MRL401, a major success story ............... (June 19th 2008)
The Shermann MRL401 has developed into a major 2008 success story with several UK rental companies including Kinetic, SoundBite, Stage Sound Services, Crystal Clear Audio and more have purchased good quantities of this model as the basis for their monitoring and occasional FOH requirements.
The passive three-way MRL401 with its 12" LF / 6.5" mid / 1" HF is also available in handed pairs - an unusual benefit these days when the majority of dedicated wedges do not offer such an option.
It also weighs in at just 20kgs - a truly spectacular lightweight performer.
Check the MRL401 feature page for more information.
New fitting for RS5............... (June 10th 2008)
A new stand mount / flying bracket will be available for the RS5 by the end of June.
With a number of customer using just one bass cab with the RS5 on smaller gigs we've developed a nutplate fitting to match with a new bracket - the
whole assembly working in a similar fashion to the R2M/R8M bracket.
The price now shown for the RS5 in the June 2008 price guide reflects the RS5 with no flying fittings supplied however, the new nutplate is so compact
that
the new RS5 is offered with both the MAN and nutplate fittings if necessary.
Shermann R118C............... (May 19th 2008)
Seems we forgot to mention that the Shermann R118C has been reintroduced.
Built to match the RS5 in every physical dimension
The R118C is equipped with a superb 1kw 18" neo driver.
Available with or without flying gear
this box offers remarkable VLF performance from a truly compact package.
(Info' on-line - see the ShermannAudio site)
Shermann LM3 & LM4 in stock ............... (May 15th 2008)
Our new low-profile two way passive wedges have joined Shermann's stock of demo gear.
The smallest, the LM3, features a neo 10" and a 1" compression driver whilst the slightly larger LM4 sports a mighty 12" neo driver and a 2" compression driver.
Designed to be heard but not seen our Shermann LM models really do place foldback energy exactly where it's required.
Call for a demo!
(Info' on-line - see the ShermannAudio site)
New RS5 released ............... (May 1 2008)
As you may have seen on our homepage, the new RS5 has been released and is now available - well almost.
We've been caught out somewhat with orders for the new RS5 and at this very moment we won't have any cabs available for demo until (hopefully) mid-May.
The keen-eyed amongst you will note the minimal of changes however, some production changes have involved the manufacture of new templates.
Please call 0845 644 2209 if you require further information.
Driving the system ............... (April 28th 2008)
Our thanks go to Dave Millard at Full Fat Audio for sending two superb lightweight amplifiers for us to try.
On Sunday at the NADJ convention we drove the R118B and MRL401 with the FFA6000 and FFA2000 (amplifiers) respectively controlled by an Ashly Protea 3:24CL digital crossover.
The sound quality was simply astonishing in every respect.
FFA - British built, lightweight and soon to be available from ourselves.
Shermann at NADJ convention 2 ............... (April 28th 2008)
Ok - we survived.
Surrounded entirely by Chinese built equipment we had no difficulty in sending all competition to the wall and that's wasn't just my opinion either.
Once again - Shermann's high powered hi-fi ruled the day.
Shermann at NADJ convention 1 ............... (April 26th 2008)
We have a stand at the NADJ convention held once again at the National Motorcycle Museum near Birmingham Airport.
Running from 12noon until late on Sunday April 27th the convention and exhibition accomodate three halls and we'll be there with some new and interesting goodies to
show the assembled throng.
New Shermann LM low profile wedges ........ (March 28th 2008).
We're introducing 3 new models of low profile wedge monitors based on the MRL3, MRL4 and MRL5.
They'll be known as the LM3 (10" + 1"), LM4 (12" + 2") and LM5 (15" + 2").
With a steep 35° wedge angle for close to the artist applications these new models are also fitted with a 35mm stand mount to increase each cabinet's versatility.
They're also equipped with two dual NL4 input plates, available as matched L/R pairs and supplied as standard in our black TPC finish - colours to order.
The new models are on the price list and will be available from May 1st 2008.
New Shermann RS5v2 soon ........ (March 14th 2008).
Work is progressing fast on the new RS5 which should be ready to hit the streets by May 1st at the latest.
See the Shermann Audio website for further details and information about our special three month offer on this new and exciting audio tool.
A Register of Shermann Installers ........ (Dec' 17th 2007).
From January 1st 2008 we're introducing a new registration scheme for companies who use Shermann products within their installations.
We intend to enhance Shermann's presence in the installed systems market during 2008 and feel the best way to accomplish this task is to generate increased confidence in our products with specifiers and end-users.
As many of you will realise, Shermann equipment has been successfully installed in many hundreds of venues throughtout the UK with the majority of these installs completed to a high standard.
With an increasing number of companies coming onboard to install our equipment we've decided to organise a register of Shermann Installers and intend this to be accepted throughout the trade as a definitve mark of quality.
Potential installers will be required to satisfy certain requirements and an indication of previous experience will be requested and logged.
It is our firm intention to keep new Shermann equipment out of the hands of rank amateurs and quick sale artists therefore, we strongly recommend that all existing and potential installers register their companies without delay as failure to do so could result in shipping delays and less beneficial pricing.
Please note; regular installation product purchasers will be auto-registered however, it may be worth checking with us to ensure you're on The List.
Carpet covering of Shermann and Syrious cabs to be phased-out (Oct' 2007)
With the popularity of our recently introduced TRC and TPC finishes going through the roof we've taken the decision to cease production in our well-known black carpet finish of Shermann (and Syrious) cabinets from November 2007.
We've purchased a large stock of carpet to allow for the future refurbishment of existing Shermann cabinets as such we're confident that we can continue to cover customers' requirements in this area for many years to come.
New, Textured Protective Coatings and Textured Resilient Coatings (July 22nd)
Several Shermann models will soon be available from stock in our new TPC finish - an extremely durable coating which may be tougher than our standard carpet finish - watch this space or, go to the ShermannAudio site without delay to learn more!
TRC finish will become the new standard for installation models whenever painted finishes are specified.
New Syrious range launched (May 5th)
Without fuss or fanfare the new Syrious loudspeaker range has been launched.
Not wishing to restrict our target market which was initially the 'mobile' community we've also offered the new range to installers all of whom have expressed great interest.
On the updated Syrious website you'll find images and details of the models released to date along with prices of the whole range.
Stage wedge monitor versions of SR models are also available at similar prices to their FOH counterparts.

Let's go Disco! (April 30th)
We've just attended our first Disco exhibition as an exhibitor for 18 years; a not so quiet little affair held yesterday at the National Motorcyle Museum near Birmingham.
The show was organised by the NADJ and was reasonably well attended; it was also this association's AGM.
We took along 2 x SR8a and 2 x SB15e models from our brand new Syrious range driven by Yamaha P Series amps along with two very secondhand stacks of Shermann RS5/R118B driven by two of our MC² Audio E4/75 amps - just one 10.5kg power amp per side.
Ashly Audio Protea crossovers were used to great advantage on both sets of gear. Comments ranged from the rather obvious "astonishing" to one very enthusiastic listener who claimed our RS5 rig was ".. the best system I've heard for more years than I can remember".
I was bemused that visitors to our stand displayed utter astonishment at the clarity, depth and acoustic output of both the inexpensive Syrious models and of course the RS5 / R118B rig many of whom openly admitted they'd never heard such detailed reproduction and output level before from what are essentially low to medium powered PA systems.
There was much surprise registered at the warm, crystal clear sound quality of our systems even when operating at higher than necessary (permitted) sound levels - what the heck are some of these guys used to?
Perhaps the reason was simple as much of the poorly built competitive gear could only be described as an acoustic disaster - to put it simply; 'Potential Land Fill' - in fact, one visitor to our stand suggested that this gear would only survive its warranty period if it was never plugged-in.
Grateful thanks go not only to Mark Weller (NADJ PR officer) for 'encouraging' us to attend but to other exhibitors, the NADJ commitee and visitors all of whom helped create a good feeling on the day.

Credit & Debit cards now accepted (April 13th)
We now accept all major credit & debit cards - VISA, Mastercard, Maestro, JCB, Solo, etc.
Amex will be the exception as we declined to join their little club and pay £75.00 per annum for the privilege.
Initially our minimum invoice value requirement will be £20.00 (excl VAT and shipping) however, we'll review this decision
as time and usage dictate.
We'll continue to accept PayPal
for now although the 2.9% surcharge will remain in force even for ebay purchases; (3.6% for export).
No surcharge for debit and credit cards.

Good news from Fane / PD (April 12th)
Fane drivers are rolling off the production line again.
We received our first pallet of drivers today and their arrival was a welcome sight.
A sample inspection indicated no problems with build quality as expected but then, these quality drivers weren't built by some inexperienced, underpaid amateurs in a far off land - thank goodness.

Factory visits quadruple (April 9th)
This year to date factory visits by Shermann customers have quadrupled.
These visits occur for a variety of reasons for example, more and more customers are collecting their Shermann cabs and systems directly whilst existing users are bringing along their more aged Shermann models for minor attention, repair or refurbishment. The chance to see the new ultra-functional Shermann R Series products has also brought the curious along for a test-drive in our new test area where we can also show the latest 4 channel lightweight amplifier from MC² Audio and the superb Protea 4: 24C digital speaker system management from Ashly Audio.
Whilst we'd appreciate at least a day's notice we look forward to welcoming more existing and potential Shermann customers in the future.

R2M for main vocal foldback (March 24th)
We've just learned that the Shermann R2M, our smallest multi-role box has been used in pairs for vocal foldback on Barbara Dickson's recent UK tour.
Unlike the sight-line destroying size of competitive 'compact' wedges the 242mm apex height of the inconspicuous Shermann R2M created a virtually clear stage environment whilst at the same time offering the high quality reproduction which Ms. Dickson has always expected from her on-stage monitors.
Along with South London PA company Kintic's Shermann RS5/R118C rig additional Shermann R2M cabs were also used as front-fills on all gigs.
Also a first for this artist, Kinetic used a Yamaha digital mixer on her 2007 tour.
Even though the Shermann RS5 has become a bench mark as the superior quality, compact touring system the sound quality produced on this recent tour drew high praise for from venue staff, concert goers and Ms. Dickson's fans.

March 2007 sales go wild (March 23rd)
Shermann Commando, Shermann RS5, Shermann R118B, Shermann Mx250, Shermann GL401, Lab Gruppen Amplifiers, Alto Maxidrive digi x/overs, flight cases and a whole lot more - all secondhand gear and all sold by Shermann Sales so far this month.
Sales of new Shermann boxes such as the R2M, R8M, R118B, GL3B, MRL601, GL2, B1500, Dx375 plus a heap of supporting electronics, brackets and accessories have kept us extremely busy although as a downside, the launch of the new Syrious range is now several weeks behind.
The best bit - Shermann gear continues to be manufactured to the very highest quality standards in the UK and there are absolutely no plans to jump ship and have it all built in China, Vietnam, Cambodia, Laos, Burma, Indonesia or wherever cheap labour may be found these days.
Oddly enough, it seems the only folks who insist that Far East build quality is equal to European are those involved either with the manufacture or sales of the stuff.

Fane Acoustics info' (Feb' 07)
Many of you will know by now that Fane Acoustics ceased trading in January 2007 however, since that event the Fane brand name has been purchased by Wakefield based Precision Devices therefore, many of the more popular Fane lines will be back in production soon.
This is of course excellent news for the many hundreds of Shermann users who have Fane components in the their boxes - even if they weren't aware of that fact.

First full year of Syrious® sales proves a major success. (Jan 06)
The wide acceptance of the 15 month old Syrious brand in the ever expanding AV and Cinema markets has been a welcome surprise.
Following the launch in 2004 many customers
criticised the decision to create a new brand however, any doubts about the introduction of Syrious as a stand alone range have long since become history.
The rapid acceptance of the Syrious range is living proof that product design, build quality, reputation and service are of greater importance to professionally minded organisations than a brand name.

2005
has been yet another successful year for S.P.A. Systems Ltd. (Jan 06)
The company has
seen a huge increase in its customer base and maintained
its strong presence in the pro-audio market despite the increase of panic discounting by many outlets
and distributors during the past year, new Shermann gear and complete
system sales have flourished.
Refurbished and S/H equipment sales have also seen a dramatic
increase probably spurred on by the realisation that buying
s/h items from other sources can often be a risky business.
We look forward to a similarly successful 2006 and at this time
would like to thank both new and established customers for their continued
support during the past twelve months.
